The 2010 Grant scheme is now Closed.
Each year Mayo Sports Partnership assist sports groups/organisations financially in projects which main aim is to increase particapation in sports/activities. The Special Participation Initiative Grant Scheme is aimed at encouraging clubs/organisations to introduce new additional projects which aim to increase participation in and opportunities for physical activity.
We would ask you to please read very carefully the application guidelines before completing and to include all required documentation (Application form, Club Constitution and Bank Statements) when applying.

Eligible Projects (may include):
Introduction of new sports projects/initiatives for target groups where opportunities do not already exist (Target Groups include: Young people, disadvantaged, females, travellers, unemployed, ethnic minorities)
Special projects/initiatives that cater for people with disabilities.
Projects which reflect a wide geographical spread.
Projects which provide for a significant number of participants (mass participation).
Outdoor education/water sport projects for young people from disadvantaged backgrounds.
New initiatives/sports clubs promoting participation in sport and physical activity by groups with low participation rates.Ineligible Projects (will include):
Capital / Building Projects
Day-to-Day club running costs (eg. transport, insurance etc)
Annual venue hire or rent expenses
Purchase of prizes
Applications from profit groups/commerical organisations
Applications from individuals (applications must be made by a club/organisation)
Sports clubs not affiliated to their relevant National Governing Body (NGB)
Applications from Statutory Agencies, Pre schools or Primary/Secondary Schools
Older Peoples groups etc (please refer to Go For Life scheme)
Applications can now be made to the Western Region Drugs Taskforce for the Capital Premises Fund 2010.
As there is a limited budget of €25,000 per Task Force, applications from voluntary or Community organisations will be reviewed if the meet the criteria set out in the funding guideines. The purpose of the funding is to assist organisations with small-scale refurbishment and/or purchase of equipment. The funding is once off and projects must be in a position to draw it down before December 2010.

1. Establishment of Fund
Fiontar Chomhraic has been established as a response to the closure of ESB Power Station at Bellacorick. The main purpose of this €3 million fund is to encourage enterprise development in areas affected by the closures. (See map of area). Responsibility for overall co-ordination of the fund will be undertaken by Mayo County Council, with Mr. Des Mahon, County Manager, as chair of the Board of Fiontar Chomhraic Teo. An independent evaluation committee of seven people shall be responsible for assessing applications and recommending support.
2. Location of Investment
Only projects located within the Functional Area are eligible for consideration. 5% of the investment fund earmarked for education and training may be used outside of this geographic boundary if benefits to the Functional Area can be clearly identified.
3. Eligible Applicants/Target GroupsFunding/support applications may be submitted by:
· Community based organisations
· Private companies, co-operatives, partnerships or individuals
· State-funded organisations active in the areas, including the ADM funded groups
Eligible organisations as defined above or equivalent, must have a written constitution and be in a position to provide audited accounts covering all areas of their activity and be Tax compliant.
The following areas in particular are to be targeted:-
· Industrial/commercial infrastructure
· Knowledge economy
The following categories/sectors are excluded from consideration:-
· Primary agriculture
· Retail sector
· B & B’s & Restaurants
4. Language & Culture
It is recognised that the Board’s functional area includes the Gaeltacht of Erris. The Board aims to promote the Irish Language, encourage cultural diversity, and co-operate with the various organisations with specific responsibilities in relation to the Irish Language and Culture.

The Mayo Sports Partnership Club Development Programme provides grant assistance to sport and
recreation clubs/organisations within County Mayo for Club Training/Development and Special Project Participation Initiatives. This scheme reflects and will contribute to, the strategies of the Irish Sports Council ‘Building Sport for Life 2006-2009, National Coaching and Training Centre and Mayo Sports Partnership Strategic Plan 2006 - 2009. This Grant Scheme aims to increase participation and improve the management and administration of clubs and in particular, to develop youth structures in clubs/organisations, thereby providing sport and physical activity opportunities.
Please note that Sports Partnership run courses/workshops are subsidised by this scheme and therefore should not applied for under this scheme. In some cases Sports Development Officers link with the Partnership office directly to avail of the scheme ie: subsidised courses in Soccer, GAA, Athletics, Badminton. We would ask you to p lease check with your Development Officer in your sport to see if this is the case before contacting the office/sending in application.
